It’s been a busy few months here at PX2, so much that I noticed I’d not posted any work samples recently. I’ve worked with 2 Magpies Design in Nottingham for a number of years, with their previous logo, and now with this “brand refresh”.

Clare the owner wanted to update the look, but keep the feel of the original brand. She LOVES stripes, and the brighter the better, so we have moved kept the previous magenta and lime palette, and added in new citrus colours too. The magpies themselves have also evolved, from the first lino cut version, to more iconic outline shapes.

The new 2 Magpies showroom is being created, and I can’t wait to see Clare’s new bespoke furniture designs on sale to the public very soon.

At the start of the summer, I was asked to create a logo for a property at Winterton On Sea called “Jacks Shack” (no apostrophe as per customer wishes). Jack is the grandson of the owner, and it’s by no means a shack! They were getting ready to let it out to holiday makers.

We discussed ideas, colours, and based it on the famous Big Norfolk Skies and sea-scape colour palettes. As usual I produced six different designs for proof 1, and we narrowed it down to two favourites. A few tweaks and changes later, the whole family had a vote between them, and the chosen design has been made into signs, key rings and tote bags.

No missing Jacks Shack now! It’s such fun to work on projects like these, it was so personal to the owner, and she loved the process of getting to the winning design. I had some lovely feedback from her.

I went on to create the van design – again a very clean, uncluttered design, which the fantastic Monarch Signs Limited printed and installed.

I was supplied with a photo of a stained glass window, which they wanted the brand identity to be based on. So I created a logo based on the thistle and hill window. Using a muted sage green for the accent.

I’ve set up a simple website, with lots of photos and a walk through video. I’ve also designed business cards, with a QR code which links to the new site. Potential customers might find the properties own website even though it’s listed with all the main holiday companies too, and come direct to the owners.

The 32 teams have a magnet each, showing their name and flag, printed on dry wipe material, so the sponsors name and company can be written on. If they progress to the next stage the magnet is moved to the next box.

The leaderboard is also generic, so can be used for any competitions in the future, just like on top gear it has magnetic drywipe strips which can be moved up or down the leaderboard.

I really love challenges like this, they usually turn out to be such fun to work on. The board had its\’ first outing at the B2B exhibition recently, and was a hit with everyone who took part, it will feature on Credos\’ social media once the World cup starts to follow all the stages until the winner is crowned.

It’s time to learn a bit more about me! My name is Michele, and I own and run PX2. I’m 40 something, and as well as being a designer (which I AWLAYS wanted to do form being around 13), I have some other passions that I LOVE.

My 2 dogs mean the absolute world to me, Jack and Bella whippets spend all day “helping” me in the office. Mainly by sleeping.

My number 1 hobby is skiing, I feel so free when doing it. The scenery is amazing, but even at the dry slope in Norwich (yes we have a hill!) I’m in my happy place.

My other big love in life (other than my husband of course) is Motorsports. Formula 1 was my first love, I used to watch with my dad when I still lived at home, but I was introduced to F2 and now F4 by my work for local company Credo Capital Finance who sponsor a Norfolk based race team Virtuosi Racing.

I was lucky enough to be invited along to see them in action during the Silverstone Grand Prix weekend in 2019. It was simply amazing.

The past few months have passed in a blur here at PX2, and I suddenly realised I’d not been posting updates of my work. Sometimes “doing” the work just takes over, and it’s easy to forget to post. It was clear they wanted a traditional feel to the branding, with a modern twist. They loved navy and gold, and also were inspired by vintage hand sign writing, on the likes of canal boats and haulage companies.

It was such a fun project, with my initial set of 6 ideas ranging from simple lettering, to a very ornate almost circus feeling, to gauge the direction the customer wanted to head in.

I lOVE the final design, it is minimal yet decorative at the same time. With just the right amount of traditional, but not old fashioned looking. I can’t wait to see the brand develop and work with them again soon.

Recently my very best friend from school days told me about her plans to start a new business, baking and selling her amazing treats – and posting them all over the UK. She was keen to get started as soon as possible, and buzzing with plans and ideas. I began by creating the logo for her, based on her likes and dislikes, and trying to reflect what the business is about.

We worked together to add the initial few products, and after a quick 30 minute zoom tutorial, Lindsey amazed me by adding new products, variation, prices and categories. I love it when a customer just “get’s it” and isn’t afraid to get stuck in.

I wish her all the luck in the world, and have throughly loved working with my best friend, the fact she is 300 miles away really doesn’t matter with this kind of work.
